If you're like me and have moved to a desk job, it can be difficult to avoid the trap of sitting for long periods which we know effects our NEAT energy expenditure and posture. Try implementing good habits to help you move more throughout the day.
Pomodoros - Stop multi tasking, achieve better focus and break up your work day with regular intervals away from your desk. Read Francesco Cirillo's The Pomodoro Technique for more information.
Stretch - It doesn't take long to take a regular stretch. If you're in an open plan office, go to the break room, or the ladies'/gents'. If you can't leave your desk, there are a range of stretches you can perform in your chair.
Go for a walk on your break.
Deliver instead of using trays/pigeon holes/emails within the office.
Stand up - So it may not be practical to install a walking desk in your workplace. But there are many times we could be standing rather than remaining seated. These include:
-Filing
-Telephone calls
-Reading
-Informal meetings
Obviously it will depend on your work place, how many more can you think of?
